Lightning Talent vs West Mids Warriors

Lightning Talent 30 - 47 West Mids Wariors

Netball Centre, Loughborough University

First match after the festive season saw Lightning Talent play against West Midlands their neighbouring region. West Midlands third in the table just behind us we knew that the game would be tough. The match saw Nathalie Hoon make her debut as Goal shooter.

The game started slowly for the lightning talent as they found bring the ball through court difficult. Creating space, decision making was not up to their usual standard of play. The defence of Nicola Caunt Kate Bradshaw and Jess Hartland created endless interception, but as the ball moved down court options were not given for the ball to progress to the shooters, as all players gave their all during the two quarters it was apparent that there needed to be a change for the third quarter.

Third quarter saw a further two players Laura Price (WA) and Rachel Saville (WD) making their debut. Jess Hartland moved to (C) and Rachel Sharrod came on as (GS). This seemed to give the team new impetus, as the centre court movement became a lot more fluent offering and reoffering feeding the shooters, Lightning fought to reduce the 15 goal lead by West Midlands in the first half, winning the quarter 14-12 they made a valiant effort.

Determined to get out in the final quarter to reduce the score line Lightning Talent started well, but as west midlands converted some of the interceptions it proved too much for lightning to close the gap loosing the quarter (6-10) Final score 47-30
